CrossTest
Demonstrates Market Acceptance & Solid
Customer Traction
April 6, 2009 — Several customers
across different industries (network equipment
manufacturers, aerospace and defense, and
industrial automation) embraced CrossTest’s Test
Automation solution for their mission critical
projects. A few of the visionary enterprise
customers who have deployed CrossTest are Cisco
Systems (network equipment) and Northrop-Grumman
(aerospace and defense).
Telecommunications
Cisco Systems embraced CrossTest within their
high-end router QA group. Using CrossTest they
were able to verify that error checking and
reporting within the router software worked as
expected. Cisco also used CrossTest’s code
coverage feature to ensure robustness of the code
through adequate testing.
Aerospace
Northrop-Grumman automated their test
infrastructure using CrossTest to design and run
their unit tests, and deploy automated regression
tests, resulting in significant savings in the
test cycles.
CrossTest 3.0 Shipping
Now
Based on customer feedback, several new
enhancements have been incorporated into the
CrossTest solution. CrossTest 3.0 supports:
- Coverage analysis for
host and target based testing
- Team based HTML result
repository
- Project refresh
- Fully automated cross-platform regression
testing
Coverage analysis
CrossTest now supports coverage analysis on
the host and target for both C & C++
languages. Coverage analysis is provided for:
- Function coverage:
reports whether each function or procedure is
invoked. It is useful during preliminary testing
to assure at least some coverage in all areas of
the software.
- Statement coverage:
reports whether each executable statement is
encountered.
- Branch coverage: reports whether
each branch has been taken or not during the
execution of the tests.
HTML test reports
CrossTest 3.0 lets the user generate
HTML test reports that provide a detailed
analysis of the results of a test run (Tested
functions, Pass/Fail Results, Code Coverage
results, etc). Test reports can be viewed using
Mozilla or IE browsers.
Project refresh
CrossTest now supports refreshing projects’
source code. When the user’s source code is
changed, CrossTest determines the impact on the
test suite and, when possible, updates the tests
on behalf of the user. CrossTest thus integrates
very well with the application development life
cycle in an enterprise.
Fully automated cross-platform regression
testing
CrossTest can now be controlled through a
command line interface and integrated into build
systems or test environments. CrossTest can also
be called from within a shell script file.
CrossTest 3.0 supports C, C++
applications; supports Windows, Linux and Solaris
host environments across multiple processors; and
is target environment agnostic.
Customer Benefits
The coverage analysis, HTML test reports and
batch mode regression testing features help the
customers greatly improve the quality of their
applications. Customers benefit from faster
time-to-market and lower software lifecycle costs
owing to the level of testing automation achieved
with these features. Further, features like
Project Refresh integrate testing tightly with the
application development life cycle.
About CrossTest
CrossTest redefines quality and economics for
device software application testing. CrossTest
offers Test Automation Systems for device software
applications that empower software teams to build
quality in, instead of rooting bugs out. The
CrossTest solution automates the tedium of testing
and integrates the various steps in testing —
test design, test generation, test execution,
regression testing, and results analysis. The
benefits are improved quality, faster
time-to-market and lower software lifecycle costs
